Together, we will address both the practical and the emotional aspects of your relationship with food and discover the way they are intertwined in your life. The work is completely personalized. I start where you are and go where you want to go.
Some of the steps below are typical. There is no prescribed time line for the phases. This is because we all have slightly different problems and different goals.
Some of my clients do not want to lose weight but are looking to rid themselves of painful behaviors around food and find freedom. Others are more focused on the scale. Either way, I can help. Read the “About” section to see for yourself why it is that I may be able to relate to your struggle and how I’m qualified to help.
Phase One: Set yourself up for success
• Gather data on food/drink you are currently consuming
• Increase your nourishment
• Identify major obstacles and create an action plan to gradually modify
• Design your customized eating and movement plan
• Solve problems related to sleep, stress, work, and relationships
Phase Two: Lose weight
• Identify changes you’re willing to make
Talk about how to deal with feelings of deprivation
Explore the possibility of lower-carb eating to decide whether that approach is for you
• Discover a manageable eating plan that will allow you to lose some weight
• Take breaks along the way in which you learn to maintain your new weight
• Problem-solve and tweak any aspect that is not working well
Phase Three: Sustain your successes
• Collaborate to help you decide on your preferred, sustainable goal range
• Become accustomed to eating at your maintenance level, for good!
• Get support to prevent back-sliding into old patterns
• Discuss new challenges you may want to take on, with your new-found energy and confidence!
